Patterned Weaving

Patterned weaving, an old handicraft, was developed in many villages of the Nizhny Novgorod region, especially in the northern part of it. Home-made patterns were used for decorating floor-coverings, clothes, bedspreads, tablecloths and towels. Flax, wool and cotton were used as the materials for weaving. The products of Nizhny Novgorod weaving craft were peculiar for the multi-patterned geometric ornament and exquisite colouring. Mainly, white, red and blue colours are used. Due to the successful combination of the colour and the pattern the products of the weavers were particularly refined.
These folk traditions were revived in the town of Shakhunya in the north of the Nizhny Novgorod region. In 1972 a weaving shop was opened to produce samples of hand-made artistic weaving. In 1973 the mass production began.

The woven products were in high demand, and the factory expanded. Two branches were opened in the settlements of Syava and Pizhma of the Nizhny Novgorod region that produced woven goods.
In 1998 the effect of the reorganization of the factory was the foundation of “Tkanye Uzory” JSC. Now “Tkanye Uzory” JSC is among the leading enterprises of Russia. The team of the enterprise comprises 60 people, among them – 35 highly qualified female weavers.

The company frequently participates in fairs and exhibitions held in Moscow, Saint-Petersburg, Vladimir, Nizhny Novgorod, Chelyabinsk, Ekaterinburg, Samara, Razyan, Kazan, Ufa, Ioshkar-Ola, where the woven products have been awarded medals and diplomas.
Now the range of products manufactured by “Tkanye Uzory” JSC includes more than 100 items, and it is constantly renewed. The company produces highly artistic tablecloths, drawings, napkins, covers for sofas and arm-chairs, towels, aprons made of cotton, flax, viscose, semi-wool with the use of syntactic yarn. All products are certified.
