Semyonov Painting

The old handicraft of producing painted wooden toys originated in the Nizhny Novgorod region in the beginning of the 20th century.
Gradually, in the 20s-50s of the 20th century, handicraftsmen who made matreshkas at home were substituted for handicraft cooperatives. Later they united in a large, well-equipped industrial enterprise. It was the beginning of production of large unique matreshkas manufactured at the industrial scale.
Now Semyonovskaya Rospis enterprise is one of the oldest Russian factories engaged in production of toys and souvenirs. One of the symbols of Russia is the traditional Russian matreshka – a brightly painted beauty with pink cheeks and scarlet roses on the apron. It always provokes interest in adults and joy – in children.

The company also revives the craft of wood-carving forgotten long ago, and is engaged in production of unique objects inlayed with “golden” straw.

Matreshka arouses interest among adults and fascinates children. It has become a traditional Russian souvenir.

The painters of the company create new models, new items of products in the traditional style and in their own style, samples of products painted with gouache and distemper. The plant successfully cooperates with many partners in former Soviet republics and other countries. The choice of products includes more than 150 items, and among them – matreshkas of 3 to 20 objects (even more at a special order), souvenirs with wood-carving, objects inlayed with golden straw, souvenir bottles of various forms and many other products. The plant can produce non-traditional objects at the customer's design as well as souvenirs with advertising elements.
There is a show-room at the company, and master-classes of matreshka painting are given.
